That’s prompted the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office to hold a “Juvenile Justice” town hall meeting Wednesday night.

It comes on the heels of two high-profile murders allegedly committed by teenagers in the past month…including the death of Sheriff’s Deputy Vu Nguyen.

But Lana Wyant with the DA’s office says the timing is just a coincidence.

"This was in the planning stages prior to the murder of Officer Nguyen or prior to the double homicide last Friday night by a 15 year old in Sacramento County but clearly it illustrates there is an issue that needs to be faced by the community and local law enforcement with regard to juveniles here in our county."

Wednesday night's event is the first in a series of five town hall meetings on juvenile justice. It’ll be held at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors Chambers from 6 to 8 PM.
