Sacramento County

  • Self Service Sandbag Filling Locations currently opened 24 hours a day through Sunday, January 6th:

City of Sacramento
  • For localized street flooding, downed trees or branches in the roadway: 264-5011
  • The City has discontinued collecting containerized green waste, garbage, or recycling Friday due to high winds.  Residents can place cans out for collection on Sunday, January 6th or on their next schedule collection day.

City of Elk Grove
The City of Elk Grove has opened four sandbag distribution sites throughout the city in preparation for the winter storms.  Residents may obtain up to 25 free sandbags at the following locations:
  • Elk Grove Corporation Yard (10250 Iron Rock Way)
  • Pump Station at Laguna West (Entrance at 9250 Harbour Point Drive south of Laguna Blvd.)
  • Consumes CSD, 8820 Elk Grove Blvd.
  • Pleasant Grove School Rd at Grant Line Rd.

City of Folsom
The City of Folsom is providing free sandbag filling sites to help residents prepare for weekend storms with potentially heavy rainfall.  Shovels, sandbags and sand are available at two local sites:
  • Behind the Arts & Senior Center at 48 Natoma St.
  • Fire Station No. 36 at 9700 Oak Avenue Parkway

What residents can do
  • Clear debris from gutters and downspouts
  • Drive safely and slowly; do not attempt to drive through flooded intersections
  • Keep clear of downed power lines
  • Monitor local weather forecasts
  • Tie down or properly store outdoor refuse cans, lawn equipment, decorations
  • Inventory or create emergency preparedness kits
  • Do not remove manhole covers
  • Pet owners check to be sure pets are secure and safe

When to call

  • Roadway is blocked- cannot pass through (trees on private property are owners responsibility)
  • Localized flooding
  • Down power lines
  • Gutters/streets flooded making it unsafe to pass or clear
