Meteorologist Felix Garcia with the National Weather Service in Sacramento has a warning for anyone thinking about driving through the Sierra during the next few days.
"Oh, don’t go to the mountains (laughs). It’s going to be very, very windy with wind gusts to 80 MPH."
As for the Valley, Garcia says the onslaught of wet weather has the potential to cause street flooding.
Jessica Hess is with the City of Sacramento. They’re asking residents to keep any yard clippings off the streets for now.
"If they do have leaves or other things that they’re trying to put out for collection try to keep those out of the gutter so that the water can flow freely to the storm drain."
After the first storm hits Thursday, a second powerful storm is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds Friday. Then a third weather system is expected to bring more of the same Saturday night into Sunday.
