2007 was quite a year for California’s Democratic Assembly Speaker.

Speaker Fabian Nunez co-authored a landmark health care reform bill that passed his house. But it was also revealed he used campaign money to stay in fancy hotels and buy designer gifts while on foreign trade missions. At one point he said it was the worst publicity he’d had as Speaker.
