Los Angeles County Registrar Conny McCormack says it’ll be a tough year for elections officials and their staffs:
“We’ve never had more than two statewide elections in one year in CA – to have three statewide elections it’s back-to-back-to-back it’s seven days a week for months, to prepare and work 12 hour days.”
McCormack won’t be joining them this time – she’s resigning after 26 years as en elections official. She says she’s noticed the long hours and increased pressure have taken a toll on lots of people:
"There’s been huge staff burnout and we’ve lost some of our staff who can go to another department and work an 8-hour day for the same pay.”
In February voters will head to the polls for the Presidential primary. In June, for the legislative and congressional primary races, and in November for the general election.
