Home-furnishings retailer R.C. Willey could anchor a 19-acre shopping center in south Sacramento, county officials have confirmed. The big-box retailer is considering a 125,000-square-foot store at the proposed Gateway Plaza center, at Highway 99 and East Stockton Boulevard. The company will not comment about opening in the center, but local leaders are optimistic since the store would create jobs and generate sales-tax revenue. R.C. Willey, a division of Berkshire Hathaway – the huge company controlled by billionaire Warren Buffett — has 13 stores in four states, and opened its first California store last year at the Blue Oaks Town Center in Rocklin. The company also has a 500,000-square-foot distribution center in Roseville.
