Sacramento Zoo Director Mary Healy says her staff is always conscientious about safety. But she says the attack in San Francisco is an opportunity to reinforce emergency procedures.

"Certainly when something like this happens it’s even more important to talk to the staff to make sure that they’re not distracted because it’s easy to let your mind wander."

Healy says at the Sacramento Zoo, visitors are separated from the tiger exhibit by heavy mesh and glass. That’s different than the San Francisco Zoo which has a moat between visitors and the animals.
