The organization that feeds Sacramento’s poor and homeless is preparing a banquet of donated ham, potatoes and pies. Sister Libby Fernandez with Loaves and Fishes says they anticipate a full dining room.
"For Thanksgiving we had over 1,000 guests come to our hot meal and so we’re expecting at least 1,000 for Christmas too. We’re noticing more families out here this year since Thanksgiving so I think there’s a bigger need out in our community for poor families and for people who are homeless."
Each guest will also get a Christmas stocking stuffed with socks, gloves, chap stick, toiletries and other gifts. About 400 volunteers are setting up the meal. It’ll be served Tuesday at 11 AM at the Loaves and Fishes Dining Room on North C Street.
