Police have begun stopping law-abiding motorists and giving them gift cards. Sergeant Tim Curran says officers are looking for chivalry on the road.
"Courteous, polite driving behavior such as maybe letting somebody in in traffic, proper signaling, things like that. Just something they consider to be polite and courteous to the motoring public."
Curran says the idea to promote goodwill between police and motorists came from Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Atkins. Rancho Cordova contracts with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department for police services. Local businesses donated money to buy the gift cards.
