But before the games begin, the American Volleyball Coaches will hold a ceremony honoring a local coach.

Sacramento State’s Debbie Colberg is being inducted into the coach’s Hall of Fame. Her 32-year career at Sac State includes two national titles.

On KXJZ’s Insight, Colberg said her greatest joy is working with young athletes.  

"I’ve had some of the nicest notes written from past players saying what an impact that the experience that they had playing here made on their lives. And so those mean the most to me, much more than any award or any championship." 

Colberg retired a few weeks ago. Under her guidance, Sacramento State has had 29 winning seasons in 31 years.
