If there’s one group of people you want to keep happy during the holidays, it’s the people who work at the airport. Representatives of the employees who operate restaurants and bars at Sacramento International Airport last week asked Sacramento County supervisors to put pressure on HMS Host Corp. to negotiate with the union. HMS Host operates the food and beverage concessions at the airport. About 180 union employees are operating under a contract that expired in June 2006. Union officials say they don’t want to picket during a busy holiday season, but they are prepared to do so. The union has also been granted strike authority from the Sacramento Central Labor Council.
