A final decision is expected Tuesday afternoon. Lynn Frank is the county’s Health and Human Services Director. On KXJZ’s Insight, she said she thinks Kaiser submitted a better proposal – but either way, the county is in good hands.

"We’re actually fortunate to have two excellent hospital systems that have applied to be designated as the trauma center. Either hospital would be able to represent the south area and provide services. I just believe the services that would be provided by Kaiser would be better."

Methodist Hospital officials say their facility is better suited for the designation since they’re already building a new trauma center that’ll be open in 2009. On Tuesday afternoon, the Board of Supervisors is expected to take a final vote on who gets the lucrative trauma center.
