It’s the 25th anniversary of the event. CIM Director John Mansoor says more than 10,000 runners are competing.
"That is our largest number of entrants. We’re up by about 20% this year. We did have to institute for the first time ever a race cap on the numbers so we can manage the growth and make sure we maintain the quality of the event."
Mansoor says they also expect up to 40,000 spectators. The race starts in Folsom and winds through Orangevale, Citrus Heights and Carmichael and finishes in front of the State Capitol.
Motorists can expect rolling street closures Sunday morning.
