Coast Guard: No Oil in Delta
The U.S. Coast Guard says oil from the tanker that crashed into the Bay Bridge Wednesday is not threatening the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta – at least not yet.

Petty Officer Kevin Neff took a boat up past the Richmond Bridge Thursday, and the coast, as they say, was clear.
“The current, winds and tides have seemed to carry the oil more towards and outside the Golden Gate Bridge. Of course, that can always change. But presently the concern is more with trying to get it from being outside the Golden Gate Bridge and in the Marine Sanctuaries out there.”
State officials say the ship’s 58,000 gallons of oil have killed six oil-coated birds, injured dozens and put many more at risk.
