Governor Schwarzenegger has not announced what he plans to do when his term is up…   but some have speculated he might run for the U.S. Senate.  Field Poll Director Mark DiCamillo says the most recent survey shows he has an edge among voters in a hypothetical match against incumbent Barbara Boxer.

“What we find is Schwarzenegger and Boxer are almost in a dead heat, we had 44-percent of voters saying they prefer Schwarzenegger if he decided to run, 43-percent would choose Boxer…”

However, voters do not support the Governor for President.  63-percent say they would not be inclined to vote for him for the top job—but he can’t run because he was not born in the U-S.  As for his current job, the poll shows Schwarzenegger’s approval rating is at 56-percent.  It was 65-percent in 2004 but dipped sharply in 2005 when he called a special election.
