Forecasters are calling for moderate Santa Ana winds – possibly Friday and Saturday. Daniel Berlant with the state’s fire-fighting agency – Cal-Fire – says they’re bracing now for the possibility. He says they’ll have extra crews, engines and helicopters on hand...but they don’t think it’ll be as bad as the winds that initially fueled the fires that have burned for more than a week:
“The Santa Ana winds started blowing in last Sunday and blew through almost Wednesday to Thursday. This is only supposed to be a two-day event, so about half the time and about half the effort. But again, this now has us on high alert for southern California.
Berlant says the half-a-dozen fires still burning should be contained within the week. He says Cal-Fire has investigators working to figure out how each of the fires started.
