Police say a young woman reported the incident early Friday morning. She and Williams appear to be acquaintances.
Officers searched Williams’ house Wednesday night for several hours and took items with them when they left.
Sgt. Matt Young says police are talking with witnesses, and Williams is cooperating.
“We’re right where we should be at this stage of an investigation related to accusations like this. It’s gonna get a lot of, obviously, attention, because of the status of Mr. Williams. But we’re not gonna rush things. We’re gonna take our time and do a good job as our community probably expects us to do.”
The 23-year-old Williams is known for his defense and rebounding. As a rookie last season, he averaged 5 points and 4.5 rebounds over 26 games.
The Chicago native played college hoops at Wyoming but did not graduate.
