Officials with Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento announced Wednesday the hospital has joined a new national fundraising campaign. It’s called “Together for Kids.”

Doctor Gregory Janos heads the hospital’s Children’s Center. He says funding is not keeping pace with the sharp increase in children’s health needs.

"The funding crisis for children’s hospitals has hit home here in Sacramento as well, including our institution. The rising number of uninsured kids and declining reimbursement levels from health insurers have all combined to reduce children’s hospital’s revenues and their ability to provide care."

More than 30 other hospitals around the country have also joined Together for Kids.

The group will raise money through corporate sponsorships, grants and philanthropy and then distribute the funds to member hospitals.
