On Thursday district officials will announce details of their so-called Greenforce Initiative. Spokeswoman Susie Williams says it includes new courses on biofuels, hybrid technology and sustainable building.
"We’ve heard from our business and industry partners that there’s a need to provide people who can work in the solar technician field, in green building design and construction and we’re creating a certificate programs to meet that workforce need."
The new classes will be offered at all four Los Rios colleges. Williams says the Sacramento area already has about 70 companies devoted to clean technology and that number is expected to rise.
