The city has about 350 people sitting on various committees and boards. Most have them have gone through the two hours of ethics training required under state law….like this workshop held during a City Council meeting last summer….
“…anytime somebody gives you a gift you need to do what my mom said you should never do which is you need to ask how much it is that the gift is worth ‘cause you do have to report fair market value….”
But about 50 people still haven’t fulfilled the requirement, despite several reminders and even a web site where the training could be taken free of cost. Now City Clerk Shirley Concolino is asking the mayor and city council for permission to remove those board members. She says it’s the last resort after exhausting all reasonable attempts at notification. The city council is scheduled to take up the issue Tuesday.
