City Council members approved it last night. After the vote, Mayor Heather Fargo praised the project for its widespread appeal.
"When the American River Parkway advocates were brought in to help resolve some of the initial issues about height so close to the river, that really was a turning point for the community’s acceptance of the project and obviously this is just an incredible shot in the arm for Richards Boulevard and for the city."
Township 9 would be located on 65 acres, bounded by Richards Boulevard, North Seventh Street and the American River. The project is expected to take 10-to-15 years to complete.
