Say you’ve spent the last six weeks haggling over a long-overdue state budget, and you’ve just finished ironing out the details. Time to set politics aside and celebrate, right? Well, on Tuesday night – mere hours after finally breaking the budget deadlock – California lawmakers left the Capitol for an even more competitive battleground: the softball field.
