Kaiser Permanente’s South Sacramento Medical Center got the initial nod of approval to become an official trauma center … but Methodist Hospital immediately protested. Methodist, which is affiliated with Catholic Healthcare West, says it should have won. A publication relations war has gone on since early June, with full-page newspaper ads, billboards and the like. The trauma program can be lucrative, and would serve people as far south as Modesto. Health officials will reveal their view on August 28th, a three-week delay. The county supervisors will make the final call on November 6th.
