It’ll be used to start a new nursing school in Sacramento. Foundation president Ed Penhoet says he’s confident UC Davis will come up with a comprehensive training program.

"This is not just a gift. There were other competitors who wanted nursing schools in California and we’re delighted to be able to make this commitment and to enhance the further growth of the UC Davis medical campus."

The new school will be built near the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. It’ll be called the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. University officials say the grant will help them recruit a world-class dean and faculty.
