Brown’s Ravine Marina has set August 1 as the deadline. Lewis Moore with the Bureau of Reclamation says it’s yet another sign that we’re in a very dry year.
"Normally there’s more than enough water out there that we wouldn’t do this. But this year they’re looking at just based on it being a dry year being down around elevation 412 feet by August 1st which requires the boats be out to prevent damage."
Moore says releases to the American River are being made to meet downstream requirements and are lowering the lake level by about 1/2 foot per day for the rest of the summer.
