In the past, a big drop in home sales usually brought on a slump in other construction – offices, shopping centers and the like. But not this time. New figures from the highly regarded Construction Industry Research Board show that commercial construction is up 37% this year over last year. The surge is greatest in Yolo County…but Sacramento County is up 28%. The big builders are also working on schools, hospitals and government projects…and all this work translates into jobs in construction and allied fields, including architectural and engineering firms.
