The redevelopment will be done by the Cordish company from Baltimore. It’s created waterfront sites and large entertainment districts in other sites, such as Baltimore’s inner harbor and the new ballpark village underway in St. Louis. City staff chose the company … although the City Council must review the selection. Initial concepts for the 200 acre site could be developed by the fall. It’s called Stone Lock, and fronts both the Sacramento River and the outdated locks to the port of Sacramento. City officials say they’d like to see a large park, a new marina, and perhaps housing with neighborhood stores.
