Entomologist Lynn Kimsey examined insects splattered on the radiator of a rental car to help debunk the alibi of a murder suspect. Former Bakersfield elementary school vice principal Vincent Brothers claimed to be in Ohio when his estranged wife and children were killed in Bakersfield.

Kimsey says she found evidence to contradict that.

"We had two insects that are only found in southern California, parts of Arizona and parts of Utah so we could show that at least the car had been in one or more of those western states."

Prosecutors used Kimsey's testimony -- along with other evidence -- to convince a jury that Brothers secretly drove between Ohio and California to murder his estranged wife, her mother and their three young children.

A jury found Brothers guilty.
