City and county law enforcement joined with 19 other local, state and federal agencies in the gang task force.
Officials say they took 113 men and women into custody on everything from probation violations to weapons possession to a warrant for attempted homicide.
Sacramento Deputy Police Chief Rick Braziel says authorities also gained a wealth of information about the gang lifestyle:
We collect demographic information, the FBI helps us with that analysis because they have experts in that area.
Braziel says data about the age of suspected gang members, their education, income and family background can help authorities with strategies that might deter other kids from joining gangs. Five hundred suspected gang members were targeted in this sweep…all between the ages of 15 and 30.
