The Sacramento Ballet, the Sacramento Philharmonic, the Sacramento Opera and California Musical Theater will occupy the 47 thousand square foot, four story building.   It will be built at 14th and H Streets, near the existing H Street Theater Complex.
Artistic director Richard Lewis, with California Musical Theater, says the studio will add new life to the area:

It creates that much more energy on this particular block.  We have really an arts campus that we’ve established now.

The studio will include rehearsal space for all four groups as well as offices and a ballet school.  The City Council put up 9 million dollars toward the 25 million dollar project.  A private donor contributed an additional 5 million.  Groundbreaking is scheduled for early next year.
