Fairfield Residential is looking to build a 24-story condominium tower on the West Sacramento riverfront. The San Diego company would build the 150-unit development on about 1 acre between the pyramid-shaped Ziggurat building and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System’s new headquarters that are under construction. The site is also next to West Sacramento’s River Walk Park. The company bought the property last year, but is not in a hurry to build the tower and will wait until the housing market improves. Pension giant CalSTRS would be a neighbor and an equity partner in the project, but Fairfield would still need a construction loan to build the tower. If built, the high-rise condos would be the first in the region, with The Towers on Capitol Mall and the Aura Condos a few blocks away in downtown Sacramento delayed in recent months and their fate undertain.
