Roger Krum, past executive director of the Jubilee, says adding new musical genres will be a benefit:
It broadens the festival. It still remains jazz related. Rock and roll in fact comes from jazz.
Orangevale jazz musician Frankie Sorci attended the Jubilee this year. He says he’d be glad to see more types of music, because even the best acts can get boring:
Somebody as great as Dave Brubeck, you know, you go see him every year, after five or six years, you might want to see something a little different.
Jubilee organizers are hoping they can expand their audience with younger music fans and keep the faithful coming back with plenty of Dixieland jazz as well.
