Due to the recent actions of city council…young people in Sacramento will have a trio of top level officials looking out for them:
There would be three individuals who we hope would wake up every day, thinking how can we make this city a better place for youth?
Jay Schenirer, Chair of the Mayor’s Commission on Youth, says with the council’s final approval Tuesday night, the city can now hire a Youth Development Director or “youth czar,” as well as two staffers, who will work on Gang and Youth Violence Prevention and Youth Resources.Schenirer says the director should be hired by early August.   It’s not clear yet when young people will begin to receive the first services.  The youth development director and council members will put together a list of priorities with job placement and mentorships likely near the top.
