Click It or Ticket is in its 15th year nationwide. California joined in 3 years ago and seatbelt use has increased. That’s according to
Christopher Murphy, Director of the California Office of Traffic Safety in Sacramento:
We’ve seen seatbelt use in California since Click It or Ticket began, we’ve gone from 91 percent to 93 point 4 percent.
Murphy says that puts California fourth in the nation, behind Washington state, Oregon and Michigan.
The Ticket or Click It campaign began on Monday. It runs until June 3rd, to include graduation season, the Memorial Day holiday and the start of summer travel season. The state has set aside nearly 6 billion dollars for police and CHP to step up seat belt enforcement during that time.
