The neighborhood surrounding Dixieanne Park was passed over by the recent housing boom … but now Signature Properties has broken ground on Evergreen, a project that will put 80 new homes in. The city promises to revitalize the adjacent park, with picnic areas and new courts. City planners and neighbors welcomed Signature’s vision, although they’d longed at one time for a grocery store. Raley’s looked at the site and passed, after the city withdrew a subsidy offer. Developer Paul Petrovich promised a grocery, but it never was built. Now these new homes will help to rejuvenate the neighborhood instead.
