Sacramento letter carriers will join their colleagues in more than 10 thousand cities across America…to deliver donated canned and dried goods to local food banks.
Roxanne Luce, with the National Association of Letter Carriers in Sacramento, says postal workers don’t mind the extra load:

Overall, letter carriers are happy to do it.  They’re thrilled to be contributing to their community.

Residents are asked to put non-perishable food donations by their mailboxes tomorrow.
Hisham Hamdy, with the California Emergency Food Link here in Sacramento, says the donations will go a long way:

This food drive is the day before Mother’s Day.  What happens is, it lasts from this time until our next food drive, which is in November.

This is the 15th year of the Postal Service’s drive to Stamp Out Hunger.
