The proposed line would start in West Sacramento, stretch across the Tower Bridge and end up in Midtown Sacramento. West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon says the $50 million price tag would be paid for with a mix of public and private funds.

"It has to be something that is jointly envisioned and executed for it to be successful because it requires a lot of heavy lifting and a lot of imagination. So the conversation is starting off on the right foot."

It’s been more than 60-years since streetcars last operated in West Sacramento. Officials say a streetcar line would increase property values and provide needed public transportation. The project must also be approved by officials in Sacramento and Yolo County.
