The city of West Sacramento has tentatively approved new development fees to raise $42 million dollars for levee strengthening. A final vote is likely this Wednesday.
About 15,000 new homes, as well as future commercial and industrial projects, would be assessed. It’ll raise the cost of a new home in West Sacramento somewhere between a few hundred dollars and a few thousand.
The $42 million would be the local share, triggering state and federal money for the balance of the $400 million dollars that’s necessary.
Thousands of property owners in Sacramento just voted in April to assess themselves for similar levee improvements.
