The sidewalk to the Capitol was lined with photographs of murder victims… Ben and Charlene Best stopped to take a picture in front of their 20-year-old granddaughter’s portrait…

“We would like to see justice take flight, we would like to see justice more fair…”

The Governor pledged to support crime victims and said one public safety issue is prisons. A federal court has threatened to cap the inmate population. But the Governor said that won’t result in early releases.

“No one will get out of the prisons because we are running out of space, they only will get out of prisons because they have served their term, they have served their time and are able to get out of prison.”

The California Correctional Peace Officers Association sponsored the event. They disagree with Schwarzenegger’s plans to address overcrowding.
