Voters in Dixon Tuesday rejected the $250 million horse racing complex, 53% to 47%. But Magna officials say they plan to start working on a new proposal.
Dixon City Councilman Mike Smith says residents know the issue is not dead.
"It’s a wait and see. I don’t think people expect it to just go away so easily after 6 years and all this effort."
Tuesday's vote rescinds the city council's decision last October to host the Dixon Downs facility. Opponents argue the track would have changed the rural feel of their community.
