The FBI arrested Lonnie Charles Denison of Sacramento Wednesday. He’s suspected of a computer attack at the California Independent System Operator.

Denison works for a company that provides computer support to CAL-ISO.

Special Agent Karen Ernst with the FBI in Sacramento says surveillance cameras caught Denison in the act.

"And between the cameras and the codes that individuals have to provide when they enter the facility, it was determined that Mr. Denison was the likely culprit."

Once inside, Denison cut power to the majority of the data center, preventing the agency from controlling computers used to buy and sell energy in real-time.

Officials say the agency's operations were not disrupted.

Denison faces a felony charge of destruction of an energy facility. He’s scheduled to be arraigned in federal court Thursday.
