Jay Schenirer – who heads the Mayor’s Commission on Sacramento Youth – says it expects to get the company’s report by the end of the month. Then city council members will take a final vote on the job description.
"…hopefully all that happens in May and June. It’s an incredibly important position and so we want to make sure we have the right person in there."
Schenirer says if all goes as planned, the city could have its first Youth Czar in place by July 1st. Two months ago, city council members approved the position to coordinate after school programs, internships and other programs designed to keep kids out of trouble. The DC group will also suggest other ways the city can reduce youth violence.
