That word Tuesday from local elections officials who finished certifying the signatures on Monday. The next step is for the Sacramento Local Agency Formation Commission, or LAFCO, to study whether Arden Arcade could support itself. Peter Brundage is LAFCO’s executive officer.
"Primarily we want to make sure that the city can continue to provide the same level of services. Are revenues going to continue to grow with the costs of services being provided?"
Cityhood supporters say they want Arden Arcade incorporated so tax revenues generated in the community would stay there. But Sacramento County Sheriff John McGinness is against the idea. He says it would carve out a neighborhood that would be hard to patrol.
The issue could go before voters in November of 2008.
