The Niello company will spend about $1 million to renovate an empty showroom in anticipation of the Smart forTwo car. The site is next to its Volkswagen dealership on Arden Way. Niello added the MiniCooper … and it’s been successful. The Smart forTwo car is less than nine feet long, and starts at about $12,000. It’s gets more than 40 miles on a gallon of gas … and in cities, it can park conveniently. More than 800,000 of them have been sold in 36 countries since the Smart car’s debut in 1998. Niello is expected to be one of about 50 initial dealerships across the country.
