UPS has purchased 14 acres near Mather Airport and will build a facility there to handle packages. UPS already has a package operation in Rocklin, and a much larger facility in West Sacramento, where combined employment exceeds 1,100. While the new UPS package facility will be right next to Mather Airport, air freight won’t be handled there initially, according to a spokesman. UPS also has a freight division, based in West Sacramento … and that too is a candidate for expansion, in a region where both the economy and population continue to grow.
