Business Journal: Home Sales Up
New home sales in the Sacramento region were up sharply in January.

New figures from the California Building Industry Association are encouraging about the Sacramento market. New home sales were up 37% in January, compared both to the month prior and to January in 2006. Prices moved up a bit from December of ’06. The figures include the BIA members in the area, a considerable number, but not every new-home community. Fewer houses are on the market now, as builders work through their inventory, often with attractive incentives. Statewide, new home sales were actually down – by 18% -- compared to a year earlier … so the good news from Sacramento bucked the trend.
