Officers announced Tuesday they made the largest seizure of crack cocaine in Sacramento history.
"I would characterize it as the motherlode of crack seizures."
Special Agent Gordon Taylor with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration says they confiscated 7 pounds of crack and 2 pounds of cocaine powder from a home in North Sacramento last week. They also arrested 3 suspects including an alleged member of the Bloods street gang.
Taylor says selling crack is how most street gangs make money.
"So by taking this amount of crack cocaine off the street we’re hoping to have some type of impact on the street gangs that are creating a lot of the violence here in the city of Sacramento."
The street value of the confiscated drugs is about $375,000. Sacramento Police and Sheriff’s Deputies also helped with 5-month investigation.
