At a workshop in Sacramento today, officials with the Department of Water Resources announced they’ll spend about 700 million dollars of those bond funds in the next fiscal year.
George Qualley, with the department, says most will go toward levee repairs in the Sacramento and San Joaquin region:
It’s for critical erosion repairs, continuing work, that started in 2006, and is continuing this year.
About 130 million dollars will be used to evaluate 350 miles of urban levees so officials can see what condition they are in. Money will also be given to local agencies around the state to develop flood emergency plans.
