A number of car seat inspection sites will be open throughout the week and even throughout the year, according to Yvonne Rodriguez, with the Department of Health and Human Services:
The parent will be educated about the proper seat that is appropriate for their child, and they’ll demonstrate how to install that car seat into their vehicle.
The California State Automobile Association estimates 80 percent of child safety seats are improperly installed. Most are not belted in tightly enough.
The Association says a correctly installed car seat reduces the risk of a child’s death in a crash by more than 70 percent.
