Giuliani – a likely Presidential candidate - will speak Saturday at a luncheon. Outgoing party chair Duf Sundheim says the moderate, pro-choice Republican - will be very well received – even by conservatives:
“What I’ve experienced in very authentic groups, is there has been an openness to Giuliani in very conservative groups and the degree of that openness has surprised me.”
In fact, he may be received more warmly than the state’s top Republican. The more conservative members of the party are upset about the Governor’s healthcare plan. They’re pushing a resolution against it. Some argue he broke his pledge not to raise taxes by including fees in the proposal. Schwarzenegger will address the crowd tonight at an 80-dollar–a-head banquet. He’s expected to defend his healthcare plan, and address prison reform and the party.
